GradWISE team Wins the NESA Innovation in Disability Employment Award

A big congratulations to our GradWISE team for receiving the NESA Innovation in Disability Employment Award at the National Employment Services Association (NESA) Excellence Awards in Canberra recently.

The program was nominated for their work of “bridging the transition from study to work for students with disability”.

The Department of Social Services is looking for 3 interns for a general Office Admin role.

The aim is for students to gain exposure and experience in an office environment.

Ideally they would like someone based in their Tasmanian office and the other 2 interns are open Australia wide.

The Internship Position

  • Paid internship – market casual rate
  • 6 week internship
  • Normally 9-5pm, will accommodate Reasonable Adjustment for what the candidate can work.
  • Reasonable Adjustment throughout the recruitment process.
  • No specific background / degree
  • Close date Friday 11th June

Key Duties

Duties performed by interns may include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with administrative support to work area
  • Respond to routine enquiries or straightforward matters from stakeholders
  • Gather basic information and respond to written and telephone requests
  • Undertake basic data entry and retrieval
  • Create, update and maintain files and records
  • Work collaboratively to assist in the resolution of minor operational issues
  • Maintain knowledge of procedures and tasks relevant to own work
  • Some roles may require undertaking preliminary information and data gathering work for research tasks

Skills Required

  • Love working in a team environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Administration or assistant experience is desirable but not necessary

Guidance for Mentees

Navigating through university and into the working world can be a challenge at times. With guidance from someone who’s walked a similar path, student mentees will feel better equipped to make their next move.

Mentoring is a collaborative learning relationship where both parties share mutual responsibility and accountability. The goal is to help the mentee work towards the fulfilment of clear and agreed goals. This happens through a series of time-limited, confidential, one-on-one conversations and other learning activities with a mentor.

Monash Business School Mentors

The Monash Business School mentors come from a variety of private, public sector and not-for-profit organisations, and many have management and leadership experience.

All are dedicated industry professionals who have volunteered to support future entrants into the working world.

Mentees are penultimate and final-year Monash Business School students, who will be individually matched with a mentor relevant to their professional goals.

Over the course of the semester, mentors and mentees meet frequently providing the opportunity for mentees to learn how to best set themselves up for success in a supportive environment.

My name is Laura and I work at the Youth Disability Advocacy Service or YDAS.

We have just opened a call out for creative young people with a disability or health condition to create content as part of a new project we’re working on.

We’re looking for writers, artists, and other creatives to make content for disabled young people.

This Is a Paid Opportunity

Immediate Part-Time Opening – Greater Melbourne

Key Details: Program Manager

  • Supporting the Regional Manager.
  • Coordinating I CAN Ltd’s face-to-face services (school-based mentoring programs and speaking engagements) within Greater Melbourne.
  • Supervising and coaching I CAN Ltd staff.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships, particularly with schools and parents
  • Hours can be negotiated around commitments but must be performed during standard business hours.
  • Maximum Part-Time Role (22.8 hrs per week) until December 2021.
  • $72K – 84K package paid pro rata to 0.6 FTE (includes superannuation and salary packaging benefits
  • Applicants must have the ability to work from home and be able to apply and provide a clear Working With Children Check. Access to a car will also be necessary in order to conduct school visits across Melbourne.

About You

  • Genuine passion for nurturing the individual strengths of Autistic mentors and mentees
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills.
  • Capacity to schedule I CAN Ltd’s services across complex requirements including casual staff availability and school timetabling preferences.
  • Adaptable communication skills across a variety of audiences and the sensitivity to handle all situations with care and professionalism.
  • Stakeholder relationship management and staff supervision experience.
