1. ALSA Conference 2012 – We want YOU!

Interested in being involved in a committee but don’t feel like running in an election? Want to be involved in the biggest law student event to be held in Melbourne in 2012?

What is it?

In July 2012, more than 600 law students from around Australia and overseas will descend on Melbourne for 7 days to partake in ALSA Conference. There will be events, the National Championships for Mooting, Witness Exam, Negotiation, Paper Presentation, Client Interview and IHL Moot, Legal Education Forums, workshops, council meetings and much much more!

Who are we looking for?

We are after passionate, well organised law students from all law schools in Victoria to get involved. Roles available will range from organising events to producing magazines and guides, organising the education forums and competitions or being part of the logistics or finance teams. Time commitments will vary significantly between roles.

Postgraduate Notices

1. Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) Program: Trimester 2 2011 – Stream Allocation

Allocate+ (https://allocate.its.monash.edu.au/) is now open for stream allocation (Trimester 2 JD compulsory units only).

Students are required to allocate themselves into streams by Friday 15 April, 2011.

Students who fail to complete the self-allocation will be auto-allocated into any available stream by Friday 22 April, 2011.

Allocate+  will then open again for students to make adjustments between  Monday 25 – Friday 29 April, 2011.

Students who require to change stream after the adjustment period, must apply in writing to the Faculty by submitting the Changing streams application form, along with any supporting documents by Friday 6 May, 2011. Late applications will not be accepted.

*New commencing students (May 2011 intake):

Allocate+ will be open for you by Friday 8 April, 2011. Detailed information will be emailed to you later next week.

2. Learning Skills

Postgraduate law students are invited to contact Rosemary Shaw – Learning Skills Adviser – to arrange a consultation to discuss their assessment tasks and law studies in general. A number of classes are also offered at the Law Chambers.

3. MULC – Reception Hours

A reminder that reception hours are:

Monday – Thursday 8.30 am – 5.30 pm
Friday 8.30 am – 5.00 pm

Students are reminded that whilst the facility is open for classes outside the above hours, collection of course materials and assignments or any other service offered at reception can only be attended to during reception hours.

Facility staff, who are at the desk are only there to attend to any room hire or technical support for lecturers – not there to provide student services.
