2. Mocha Is Not Coffee! Fringe Festival play written and directed by Monash Law student

 

Mocha Is Not Coffee! is a new work written and directed by Verity Norbury which follows the story of four highly competitive (and self-destructive) law students. It’s all fun and terror until one goes missing!

This performance is being used as part of the playwright’s Honours Thesis, which is looking at the ways in which performance methodologies may open up a conversation around mental health and law school.

1. Commonwealth Parliament internship opportunities

Applications are now open for Commonwealth Parliamentary Internships.
For the past 25 years, the Australian National Internships Program (ANIP) has offered internships in the Commonwealth Parliament to students from across Australia. The internship combines the unique experiences of a work placement in the Commonwealth Parliament of Australia, with a focused research project supported by a course on applied policy research.
Students will undertake the Commonwealth Parliamentary Internship during the First or Second Semester of 2019 for the equivalent of 12 units of course credit. They will need to apply within their home university for cross-institutional approval to undertake the program.

2. EcoPeace Middle East Internship – Israel

Do you have a passion for policy, sustainable development, protecting the environment and promoting dialogue and peace-building? Would you like to expand your global experience and knowledge beyond a typical internship?

The Faculty of Law has an agreement with EcoPeace Middle East, Israel for 1 student (either UG or PG) to intern for 12 weeks, approximately December to February.

The successful student will be required to work on policy, external communication, resource development, research and education within the organisation. Please note that EcoPeace is not a law firm and the successful student will not be working in the legal department.

1. $3,000 – $5,000 to study in Indonesia

ACICIS, Indonesia are currently accepting applications until the 1 September, 2018 for all semester 1, 2019 programs, including:

  • January-February 2019 intake of ACICIS’ Law Professional Practicum (LPP) for which Monash currently has 4 x $3,000 NCP grants; and
  • January-July 2019 intake of ACICIS’ Indonesian Business, Law and Society program (IBLS) for which Monash currently has 6 x $5,000 NCP grants.

2. GSP: Jindal India Immersion Programme

Reminder that calls for expressions of interest by UG students for the January 2019 Global Study Program: Jindal India Immersion Programme is open and will close on the 1 October 2018.

The India Immersion Programme will allow students to participate in seminars, lectures and field visits with leading academics and professionals from a variety of industries.

The course provides its participants with an introduction to India’s diverse regulatory, business and social impact landscape. The Programme is a valuable experience for Australian University Students studying Law, Business and/or Arts.

Volunteer Opportunities are available in 2018-2019 at the Monash Law Clinics Clayton (MLCC) for Monash Law Students.

Wednesday Night Advice Only Service

Applications for the Wednesday Night General Advice Session at Monash Law Clinics Clayton will open at 9am Monday 3 September 2018 and close 10am Tuesday 11 September 2018. Please note that late applications will not be accepted.

You are applying to be part of the Wednesday night volunteer team, which provides advice to clients experiencing a wide range of legal problems.

Students are rostered to volunteer on Wednesday nights on a fortnightly basis from 6:00pm until approximately 8:30pm. This volunteer period will run until April 2019.

Orientation will be held on Wednesday 26 September 2018 at 6pm at MLCC.

Sessions will commence on Wednesday 3 October 2018

Tuesday Night Family Law

The Tuesday Night Family Law Advice Service handles matters relating to Children, Divorce and Intervention Orders.

Students are rostered to volunteers on a Tuesday night on a fortnightly basis from 6:00pm until approximately 8:30pm. This volunteer period will run until April 2019.

Applications for Tuesday Night Family Advice Session at Monash Law Clinics Clayton will open 9am Monday 3 September 2018 and close 10am Tuesday 11 September 2018.

Orientation will be held on Wednesday 26 September 2018 at 6pm.

Sessions will commence on Tuesday 2 October 2018
