2. Session for 3rd and Final Year Law Students

The TAC would cordially like to invite 3rd & final year Law Students to attend an Information Session for the Legal Seasonal Clerkship for 2013/2014 and Legal Graduate Traineeship for 2014.

Speakers will include:

Mark Rawlings – Senior Legal Manager and Coordinator of the TAC Clerkship and Graduate Program and members of the TAC Legal Team

The Information Session will be held on Thursday 18th July 2013 at 10.30am till Midday. Students will be given a brief tour of the TAC Building and the opportunity to ask our Legal Team questions regarding life at the TAC!

1. The Borat Problem in Negotiation

The Australian Centre for Justice Innovation (ACJI) proudly presents this Free Public lecture presented by Professor Russell Korobkin.

The ‘Borat Problem’ exists on the blurry border between contract and tort law. This lecture will explore the doctrinal indeterminacy and the underlying normative problem of bilateral
opportunism that has caused courts to respond in a variety of inconsistent and unsatisfying ways.

1. Seeking Open Day Volunteers

Monash University Open Day for Clayton is on Sunday 4 August, 2013. We are looking for student volunteers to assist on the day.

This will involve speaking with prospective students and their families about your experience of studying at Monash, giving directions as well as helping out with the set up and pack up of the equipment used on the day.

Although these positions are voluntary roles, the faculty does provide training and $50 vouchers for students who volunteer half a day (9.00am – 1.00pm OR 12.30pm – 4.30pm) and $90 vouchers for students who volunteer for a whole day (9.00am – 4.30pm)

If you have good communication skills, and a well rounded knowledge of the faculty and campus please email lauren.miller@monash.edu by Monday 8 July, 2012.

In your email please include the following information:

  • Full name and contact number
  • Degree type and year
  • Availability
    • Half Day (morning: 9.00am – 1.00pm)

1. Starting Your Own Mediation Practice

Two years ago, Spencer Flint spoke on the topic, “Setting Up Your Own Mediation Practice”. Following many requests, he is now able to present a five hour workshop, covering all major aspects of setting up a mediation practice.

When: Saturday, 29th June from 10am to 3.30
Where: 139 Queensberry Street Carlton (parking is available at the rear of the building)
Cost: $125 current VADR members, $165 non members.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided and are included in the cost of the workshop.

The workshop will attract 5 CPD points.

Spencer Flint has had his own FDR/mediation practice since 2005. Prior to this he was an airline pilot for 30 years during which time he taught conflict resolution skills, Human Factors and Crew Resource Management to pilots and flight attendants. After leaving the airlines, he studied Hospitality and Management and set up and for several years ran a very successful 80 acre olive farm with a large restaurant entertainment centre attached before embarking on his present career. He is also a marriage celebrant, an accredited trainer and assessor, and provides PD in these areas throughout Australia.
