1. PCL Lawyers Legal Scholarship 2021

Are you currently studying a Bachelor of Laws at university and you are in or heading into your final year?

PCL Lawyers is offering two Law students with a WAM of 65 or more in their penultimate or final year a grant of $2000 each to assist them through the final stage of their degree. One grant will be prioritised for a student studying in Victoria.

2. Just Leadership Program

Applications for the 2021 Just Leadership Program, a prestigious initiative of the Monash Law Students’ Society, are now open. Students with an interest in social justice and the law are encouraged to apply.

The program affords selected students the opportunity to listen to, learn from and network with high profile speakers who are closely associated with social justice and equity issues in the law.

3. Job Opportunities: Associate and Research Associate to the Hon Justice Pritchard

Applications are invited for the positions of Associate and Research Associate to the Hon Justice
Pritchard, President of the State Administrative Tribunal, to commence in January 2022.
The successful applicants will be based at the State Administrative Tribunal but will also assist Justice
Pritchard in relation to matters in the Court of Appeal.
Both positions are offered for a period of 12 months. At the discretion of the Court, the tenure of this
position may include a subsequent two weeks.

Prospective applicants should possess the following attributes:

 A law degree (completed as at January 2022);
 A high level of academic achievement (Honours or equivalent is desirable but not essential);
 High-level research and analytical skills;
 Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills; and
 Editorial skills are an advantage.

Interviews will be conducted on 30 April 2021.

The successful applicants should be available to attend the Associates’ Induction Programme
from Tuesday 4 January to Monday 10 January 2022.

The successful applicants may also be invited to attend three days of paid handover in November or
December 2021, subject to consultation between the applicant and the Court.

 curriculum vitae; and
 current academic transcript (or a certified copy).

Applicants will be considered for both positions and need only apply once.

4. ‘From Student to Professional’ sponsored by Herbert Smith Freehills

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of different pathways available in the legal profession and for students to gain an insight and network with professionals.

1. Position Available – Project Officer, Castan Centre for Human Rights Law

The Castan Centre for Human Rights Law is looking to employ a Project Officer with sound human rights knowledge, a passion for human rights, great administrative skills and familiarity with social media.

  • Familiarity with video camera operation and editing are desirable.
  • The position is a casual position with an expectation of between 3 and 4 days of work per week.
  • Applicants with a law degree and specific human rights law knowledge are encouraged to apply.

The Project Officer will coordinate the Centre’s many projects including its internship, careers and mooting programs and will also edit the Centre’s newsletter, implement its social media strategy and engage in research, writing and video editing.

1. Australian Government – Rio Tinto NTRB Scholarships

Two Australian Government-Rio Tinto NTRB Scholarships are again being offered by Rio Tinto, FaHCSIA and the University of Dundee to lawyers who are currently working or interested in working in the NTRB system. The timing of the scholarships will correspond to the European academic year, commencing in September 2013. The two scholarships cover all the expenses involved in undertaking a one year Masters in Mining Law and Policy at the University of Dundee, Scotland (approx. A$43,000) and are open to any Australian resident with a law degree with no age restriction. The successful candidates will commit to work within the NTRB system for a minimum period of two years on completion of their studies.

FaHCSIA has agreed to continue to provide A$15,000 towards the living expenses of each scholarship recipient who is working within the NTRB system at the time they receive the scholarship.
