1. 6th Annual Castan Centre Human Rights Moot

The Castan Centre for Human Rights Law is hosting the sixth annual human rights moot competition, which is open to law (JD/LLB) students at all Victorian universities. The competition will address issues associated with the Victorian human rights legislation and will give students the opportunity to hone their skills in this important area of law. The event is proudly sponsored by Clayton Utz, who is providing generous prizes:

  • $3000 to the winning team
  • $1000 to the runners-up

Competitors must be in the equivalent of at least third year of a combined law degree, or in any stage of a JD degree, but must not have completed their degree. It is preferable that competitors have completed some studies in human rights law.

2. Susan Campbell Memorial Dinner: Celebrating Clinical Legal Education at Monash

Susan Campbell AM (1943-2011) was a pioneer of community legal centres. Through her work, she inspired a generation of law students to give back to their communities. This event celebrates Susan’s professional life and her work with the Monash Clinical Legal Education program.

1. Notice Boards

Notice Boards have been placed on the second floor of the Law Chambers near the photocopier. Notices should be placed only on these boards and not around the facility. Notices placed around the facility will be removed.

Furthermore, notices placed anywhere in the Clayton Law faculty building other than the provided noticeboards, using anything other than the provided black pins, will also be removed.

2. Seeking Open Day Volunteers

Monash University Open Day for Clayton is on Sunday 5 August, 2012. We are looking for student volunteers to assist on the day.

This will involve speaking with prospective students and their families about your experience of studying at at Monash, giving directions as well as helping out with the set up and pack up of the equipment used on the day.

Although these positions are voluntary roles, the faculty does provide training and $50 vouchers for students who volunteer half a day (9.00am – 1.00pm OR 12.30pm – 4.30pm) and $95 vouchers for students who volunteer for a whole day (9.00am – 4.30pm)

If you have good communication skills, and a well rounded knowledge of the faculty and campus please email lauren.miller@monash.edu by Monday 2 July, 2012.

  • Degree type and year
  • Availability
    • Half Day (morning: 9.00am – 1.00pm)

1. 2012 Annual Julian Small Research Grant

Applications are sought from postgraduate and undergraduate students who are undertaking research and involved in the study of employment related law, industrial relations and media studies in Australia.

2. Blackboard/Moodle

The Faculty of Law (Postgraduate) will be moving to Moodle for units commencing in Term 3 2012. Please note that Blackboard will not be used for these units and functionalities previously used in Blackboard will be used via Moodle. Moodle can be accessed through your my.monash portal (click on Moodle2 in the left hand side panel) and support and training can be found here.

For further assistance, please contact Monash eSolution Service Desk Online or ring the IT Helpdesk on 9903 2777.

Units which have already been set up and running on Blackboard for current teaching periods will continue using Blackboard for submission of assessments and notifications.
