1. The Aurora Native Title Internship Program

The Aurora Native Title Internship Program places law, anthropology and other social science students and graduates from Australian universities at Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs), Prescribed Bodies Corporates (PBCs) and other organisations involved in policy development, social justice, human rights, all with an Indigenous focus.

The application period for the winter 2014 round of internships is open from 9am AEDT Monday 3rd March through 5pm AEDT Friday 28th March, 2014.

Shell are developing a wide range of ideas to help meet the growing demand for energy. As such they are looking for ambitious students and graduates to help them.

Shell offers graduates the opportunity to work on game changing projects, such as Prelude FLNG and Australia’s largest Liquefied Natural Gas refueling network, making a difference on both a local and global level.

2. Rome, Italy Internship Opportunity

The four week internship is with Studio Legale Delfino e Associati Wilkie Farr &Y Gallagher LLP, a law firm in Rome, and will run between March and the end of July.

There is an upcoming opportunity for students to apply for an Australian Government – Rio Tinto NTRB Scholarship for a Master of Laws (LLM) in Mineral Law and Policy in Scotland.

Two scholarships are again being offered by Rio Tinto, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) and the University of Dundee to lawyers who are currently working or interested in working in the NTRB system.  The timing of the scholarships will correspond to the European academic year, commencing in September 2014.

On-line applications will be open from Monday 17th February through to Friday 14th March, 2014.

The NSW Law Reform Commission operates a winter internship program for law students in their final year of study, or entering their final year of study in 2015.

While this opportunity is unpaid, it does provide access to a range of professional development opportunities, including working with our Commissioners.

Are you a first to third year Law student or JD student in your first six trimesters of your degree and looking for the opportunity to gain some invaluable practical legal experience?

Applications for the Wednesday Night Advice Only Session at Monash Oakleigh Legal Service will open 8am Monday 3 March 2014 and close 5pm Sunday 9 March 2014, please note that late applications will not be accepted.

You are applying to be part of the Wednesday night volunteer team, which provides advice to clients experiencing a wide range of legal problems.

Students are rostered to volunteer on Wednesday nights on a fortnightly basis from 6:00pm until approximately 8:30pm. Commencement date is in April 2014.

In each session you will:

Interview clients along with another law student
Develop practical legal skills as well as research skills
Have the opportunity to learn and work under the supervision of qualified lawyers and barristers.

1. Position Available – Project Officer, Castan Centre for Human Rights Law

The Castan Centre for Human Rights Law is looking to employ a Project Officer with sound human rights knowledge, a passion for human rights, great administrative skills and familiarity with social media.

  • Familiarity with video camera operation and editing are desirable.
  • The position is a casual position with an expectation of between 3 and 4 days of work per week.
  • Applicants with a law degree and specific human rights law knowledge are encouraged to apply.

The Project Officer will coordinate the Centre’s many projects including its internship, careers and mooting programs and will also edit the Centre’s newsletter, implement its social media strategy and engage in research, writing and video editing.
