Digital disruption is coming for the legal profession. Will you lose your job to a robot? Or will you adapt to the changing legal landscape?

The rise of technology and artificial intelligence presents unique challenges for future lawyers. It also provides opportunities for making the justice system more accessible and user-friendly.

The Australian Centre for Justice Innovation is collaborating with the Monash Law Students’ Society to bring you this free event about how thinking innovatively can shape your future in the legal profession.

Come along to hear from a panel of legal innovators and entrepreneurs on how they’ve built their careers by harnessing technology and new ideas to solve legal problems.

2. Temporary/Fixed Term Administrative Work – CBD Legal Precinct

Barristers’ Chambers Limited has temporary administrative work upcoming based around the legal precinct in the CBD supporting our Barristers.  A variety of assignments will be available to cover annual leave and project work.

Assignments will vary in contract length and will range from entry-level administration to executive assistance.

Essential Skills & Attributes –

  • Customer service focus
  • Clear communication skills
  • Impeccable personal presentation (corporate environment)
  • Strong computer skills (predominantly word & excel)
  • Fast and accurate typing (for EA assignments/ 75WPM)

2. Career Connect

Career Connect supports students in their education and career goals including:

3. International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) traineeship

1. ALDI Graduate Program

ALDI are currently recruiting 16 graduates nationally for the newly launched 2018 Graduate Program – applications are closing 31 March 2017.

ALDI’s 18 month Graduate Program, with a February 2018 start, allows graduates to rotate through all aspects of the business and develop their leadership skills. At the end of the program, graduates take on the role of Area Manager, running 3-5 stores in a multi-million dollar business as if it was their own.

ALDI also offers industry leading remuneration of $85,000 and a company car. You can read more about the ALDI graduate program here.

2. Careers Month – March 2017

3. Internship opportunity: Corporate Social Responsibility and Climate Change

The Centre for Policy Development has an internship opportunity available for an enthusiastic Monash law student to work under the supervision of the Dean of Monash Law, Professor Bryan Horrigan, members of the Centre for Policy Development, and senior lawyers and business leaders.

  • Masters student
  • Distinction average for law units
  • Completed or currently enrolled in Corporations Law
  • Must have 8 to 10 days capacity over Semester 1, 2017 (dates to be agreed with the successful applicant)

4. Internship opportunity: ZICOlaw, Malaysia

ZICOlaw are Malaysia’s largest law firm with offices located in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.  Their expertise and commitment to goals has led them to be a multiple recipient of the “Malaysian Law Firm of the Year” award from the International Financial Law Review.

5. KPMG graduate and vacation programs

Applications are now open to join KPMG Law’s Tax Controversy team in the Melbourne office as a vacation student in late 2017 / early 2018 and as a graduate from early 2018.

KPMG Law’s Tax Controversy and Dispute Resolution practice sits within KPMG’s affiliate law firm.

The practice provides legal advice for all tax matters, including:

  • Assisting clients to prepare for, manage and resolve disputes with Commonwealth, State and Territory revenue authorities;
  • Acting for clients at all stages of a matter, from pre-transaction stage all the way through to litigation;
  • Assisting clients with communicating transparent and correct information to revenue authorities and the market;
  • Providing strategic advice for managing a client’s tax affairs, including through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms; and
  • Providing tax legal advice in relation to tax technical matters.

3. Internship Opportunity in Rome, Italy

The four week internship with Studio Legale Delfino e Associati Wilkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, an international law firm in Rome, will run between March and the end of July 2017, with the final start and end dates to be negotiated with the student and the firm.
