1. Allocate+ for Trimester 1 2014 (Current students)

Allocate+ for Trimester 1 2014 JD core units will be opened at 12pm on 9 December 2013. Due to the set size of each class, once a stream is full there are no more places available.

Students are required to complete the self-allocation by 31 December 2013. Students who require changing stream must apply in writing to the Faculty by submitting the Changing seminar streams or tutorial group application form along with the supporting documentation by Friday 3 January 2014. The form can be downloaded from Faculty website: http://www.law.monash.edu.au/current-students/resources/forms/index.html

2. Professional Practice (JD) Applications Open

Application for LAW7423 Professional Practice (JD) – Trimester 1 2014 intake is now open.

Students who completed at least 12 core units, and wish to participate in this clinical unit can submit your application by 10 Jan 2014. Successful applicants will be notified via email by 15 Jan 2014.

1. Internships

The International Bar Association (IBA) is currently seeking high calibre legal interns to work on its International Criminal Court (ICC) Programme in The Hague.

START DATE: January 2014

END DATE: April 2014

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday 15 November 2013

The IBA’s ICC Programme monitors fair trial issues at the ICC. Programme information is disseminated through regular reports, expert discussions, workshops and other events and expert legal analysis on relevant issues. Based at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the IBA’s ICC Programme consults and interacts with Court officials, civil society organisations, academics and international lawyers.

1. Research Scholarships

Doctoral Research Scholarships at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore

The NUS PhD comprises: (i) coursework (up to 6 graduate courses, taken in the first year), followed by (ii) a thesis of not more than 80,000 words. Successful applicants will commence their candidature as probationary PhD students and will work under the supervision of a Faculty member at NUS Law. Within 12-18 months of their candidature, probationary PhD students must orally defend an outline of the proposed PhD thesis at the Doctoral Candidate Qualifying Examination (DCQE). Candidates who succeed at the DCQE will have their PhD candidature confirmed and may proceed to write the thesis.

The Chant Legacy Scholarship’s purpose is to provide funds to students seeking to undertake postgraduate study in the area of governance.

Successful applicants of the postgraduate governance scholarship are entitled to an amount up to $2,000 per subject and up to $4,000 per semester (where more than one subject is studied within the semester) and up to a maximum of $8,000 a year (up to a total of $12,000 for the whole course of study). The scholarship funding covers study fees only.

To be eligible, you must show that you have been accepted into a postgraduate course, but not have commenced, and must be relevant to your governance career aspirations.

Applications close in October 2013.

2. JD Trimester 3 Examination Timetable

JD Trimester 3 examination timetable is now available from the Faculty Postgraduate Timetable page.

3. Trimester 3 2013 JD Unit Discontinuation Dates

The last day to discontinue a Trimester 3 JD core units without penalty is Monday 23 September 2013.

Please note that elective units have different discontinuation dates.
