1. Aurora Internship Program

The Aurora Internship Program places law, anthropology and other social science students and graduates at Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs), Prescribed Bodies Corporates (PBCs) and at other organisations involved in policy development, research and social justice, all working to support the broader Indigenous sector Australia-wide.

The Program introduces candidates to career opportunities in native title and the Indigenous sector and at the same time provides assistance to under-resourced and over-worked organisations.

The on-line application period for the Winter 2016 round of internships closes on Friday 1 April 2016.

2. English Language Assistance

The English Connect program is Monash’s new English language assistance program. It is aimed at international undergraduate and postgraduate students. English Connect is an expanded version of the Conversational English program trialled last year.

A new website will be up soon, but at the moment, program dates and times can be found on the old website here.

The free programs consist of:

  • Let’s Chat – conversation in a fun environment – 1 hour each week over weeks 3-11, with over 40 sessions per week offered
  • Peer Support – one on one help with academic English (written and oral), 20 minutes, no need to book. Held at John Medley Library, Mon-Thurs 10am to 2pm
  • Workshops – Grammar workshops, 2 hours, register online

3. Faculty Managed Internship Opportunity – Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) Internship

Applications are now open and close Thursday 14 April 2016 for a three month internship from September to November 2016.

4. Faculty Managed Internship Opportunity – ZICOlaw Internship, Malaysia

ZICOlaw are Malaysia’s largest law firm with offices located in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. Their expertise and commitment to goals has led them to be a multiple recipient of the “Malaysian Law Firm of the Year” award from the International Financial Law Review.

5. King’s College London Pathway Opportunity

Would you like to graduate with a qualification from Monash University and King’s College London?

The Faculty of Law offers a pathway opportunity to study the Master of Laws (LLM) at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London (King’s) for outstanding Monash students enrolled in either:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB); or
  • Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) (JD).

If successful, you will begin your studies at King’s in September/October. At that time you must have no more than four (4) elective units left to complete in your Monash qualification.

Situating privacy within the context of political philosophy, Associate Professor Janice Richardson’s Law and the Philosophy of Privacy highlights the way in which struggles concerning the meaning of privacy have always been political. Different conceptions of privacy are here shown to involve diverse assumptions about ontology: our conceptions of self, culture, society and communication.

4. ‘From Student to Professional’ sponsored by Herbert Smith Freehills

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of different pathways available in the legal profession and for students to gain an insight and network with professionals.
